Getting Started With Oral Appliance Therapy

What is The Process

Once you have a diagnosis of sleep apnea and have obtained a prescription for an oral appliance from your physician, a qualified dentist will perform a full assessment of your teeth, airway, and TMJ joint to determine whether you are a candidate for an oral appliance.

Based on many assessments and measurements of the patient's jaw range of motion, the dentist will decide the best starting position for the device. A 3D scan of your teeth is then made and sent to a lab to be 3D printed for accurate fit, quality, and effectiveness.

Your device will be delivered after 2 to 3 weeks. Follow-up visits will usually occur every two weeks until the patient and dentist have determined the best therapeutic position for the device. A follow-up sleep study will determine whether the patient has reached their maximum therapeutic position.
